Kedarkantha trek is a perfect picturesque trek in the lap of the Himalayas of Garhwal. The overall return trek distance of the Kedatkantha trek is around 24 kilometers from Sankri – a small village located closer to Kinnaur in the Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand.

This trek has the prettiest campsites in the Himalayas. Not all treks can boast of the beauty of their campsites like the Kedarkantha trek. Each campsite is unique in its beauty. The Akroti Thach campsite sits in a clearing surrounded by walnut and pine trees, the Pukhrola campsite is on an open meadow with the Kedarkantha summit in clear view. It is almost as if each one of them competes with the other for the beautiful setting.

Kedarkantha trek takes you up to its summit which touches the altitude of 3800 meters or 12468 Feet above the sea level. The view from the top offers spectacular panorama the region all around. Other lesser known peaks of the Supin Range, villages located nearby, valleys of Himachal and Garhwal. From the top of the Kedarkantha Summit, you can also view the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Pradesh, The Rupin valley, Har Ki Dun valley and views that goes down to the dense settlement of Purola.

This region gets early snow in the winters and soft white snow covers all the surrounding peaks after the snowfall by December, making it one of the best snow trek in Uttarakhand. All the surrounding mountains, which otherwise were insignificant now looks extremely elegant and beautiful with their sharp points appearing like a dominating 6000 meter peaks of the Himalayas.

First Day – Dehradun to Sankri (altitude- 1920 mtr.)

  • The trekkers will be picked up from Dehradun Railway Station at 6.00.a.m. from where the journey will begin. Dehradun is well connected with Delhi through railway and road route. Overnight Buses and Trains are available.
  • A 256 km road ride to Sankri from Dehradun crossing Mussuorie, Kempty Falls, Netwar & Purola. Breakfast and lunch during the travel will be provided in the road side inns. The cost of the meals during travel will be paid by the individual.
  • Arrival at Sankri village, followed by accommodation in a Guest house/Hotel. Dinner and rest at the guesthouse/hotel followed by a quick introduction and briefing session with the trek leader and fellow travelers.

 Second Day- Sankri to Juda Ka Talab Campsite (altitude- 2020 mtr.) 4 km. trek

  • Excursion to Juda Ka Talab campsite after breakfast.
  • The trail is of easy to moderate ascent passing through dense forests of Oak & Rhondendrone gaining an elevation of about 1000 metres.
  • The legend has it that Lord Shiva opened a little of his hair and water flowed out to form this small pond. Several trekkers use this spot as a camp site, spending the night here having fun near bonfires and sleeping under a blanket of twinkling stars.
  • Arrival at Juda Ka Talab campsite followed by lunch and rest in the camps.
  • The Tal remains frozen during the winter season and a great sight to watch.
  • Evening refreshments, bonfire and dinner at the campsite.
  • Overnight stay in the camps.

Third Day- Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp (altitude 3477 mtr.)- 4 km. trek

  • After breakfast Excursion to Kedarkantha Base Camp a trek of 4 km
  • No residential population and all covered in snow with peaks Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and offcourse Kedarkantha in the backdrop.
  • Lunch at the base camp.
  • An evening walk followed by evening refreshments and bonfire.
  • Early dinner and rest in the camps.

Fourth Day- Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit to Hargaon Base Camp (altitude 3812 mtr.)- 16 km. trek

  • Early morning excursion to Kedarkantha Peak at 5.a.m. after breakfast.
  • Steepy and moderate climb of 4km with level walks in between.
  • Carry atleast 1-2 litres of water individually as the trail is deprived of water points.
  • Packed lunch at the summit point of the trek.
  • Descend back to Hargaon Base camp from the peak.
  • Refreshments and evening snacks after arriving at base camp.
  • Dinner and rest in Camps.

Fifth Day- Sankri to Derhadun

  • Descend down to Sankri Village from Hargaon camp after breakfast at Hargaon camp
  • Drive to Dehradun from Sankri village, a 256 km drive via Netwar, Purola, Kempty Falls & Mussoorie.
  • Evening refreshments to be provided in the road side inns.
  • Expected arrival time at Dehradun will be 8 P.M.

  • If the trek is cancelled due to any unavoidable Circumstances like Bharat bandh, natural disaster etc then we will provide a trek Coupon where you can opt for the same trek or a different for a period of one year. If you want to change the trek the amount you paid will be deducted if the new trek cost is greater than the cancelled trek and if the new trek cost is less the remaining amount will be refunded.
  • If Booking of less than 3 members and the trek is cancelled due to no further trekker available, the customer will get full refund and will get a discount coupon of 10% for next trek. The Coupon can be used only once for a period of one year.
  • If the trek is cancel prior to 30 days of booking date then 100 % Amount will be refund.
  • If the trek is cancel between 15 to 29 days of booking date then 55 % Amount of will be refund.
  • If the trek is cancel between 7-14 days of booking date then 35% Amount will be refund.
  • If the trek is cancel between 1-6 days of booking date – No Amount will be refunded.
If, you seat transfer to a friend

(a) You can anytime transfer your seat to your friend but he / she has to fulfill all the formalities before the day of the Event.

(b) Replacement would not be applicable on any public transport booked for original participant; in that case booking for new member has to be done again.
